Mumbai: Radhikka Madan has added another feather to her cap with her recent win as Best Actress for her powerful portrayal in the film Sarfira. The actor was felicitated at the recently held Midday Awards, where her grounded yet emotionally charged performance was celebrated for its depth and impact.
While receiving the honour, Radhikka spoke candidly about what the role meant to her personally. “I want to thank producer Vikram Malhotra and director Sudha Ma’am for trusting me with Rani,” she shared. “Akshay Sir, thank you for being so gracious. And my parents—this award belongs to them as much as it does to me.”
Radhikka went on to reveal that the character of Rani came into her life during a particularly difficult phase. “I was going through a really, really low time when this role came to me,” she said. “Rani felt like a breath of fresh air. She pulled me out with her strength and spirit. That’s the power of stories, of characters, of cinema—sometimes they find us when we need them the most.”
Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Sudha Kongara, Sarfira revolves around dreams, ambition, and the startup aviation space in India. Radhikka plays Rani Mhatre, a bold, driven, and fiercely independent woman who supports her husband (played by Akshay Kumar) in his pursuit to revolutionize air travel. Her portrayal was widely appreciated for its raw honesty, natural presence, and emotional complexity.

At a time when many leading ladies are seen opting for stylized and glamour-driven roles, Radhikka chose a path rooted in realism and relatability. Her performance struck a chord with viewers and critics alike, proving that powerful storytelling doesn’t need embellishments—just honesty and heart.
This award not only marks another high point in Radhikka Madan’s growing career but also highlights her commitment to meaningful cinema. By embracing roles that reflect real lives and deeper emotions, she continues to redefine the modern-day female lead in Indian films.
